Genesis 43:30

New English Translation

³⁰Joseph hurried out, for he was overcome by affection for his brother^[a] and was at the point of tears.^[b] So he went to his room and wept there.

Genesis 43:30 tn Heb “for his affection boiled up concerning his brother.” The same expression is used in 1 Kgs 3:26 for the mother’s feelings for her endangered child.

³⁰Deeply moved^(A) at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep. He went into his private room and wept^(B) there.

³⁰And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
