26 This is the interpretation of the message:

‘Mene’[a] means that God has numbered[b] the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end.(A)

27 ‘Tekel’[c] means that you have been weighed[d] on the balance and found deficient.

28 ‘Peres’[e][f] means that your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”[g]
