12 Čovjek u odjeći od lana dalje mi je govorio: »Daniele, u to će vrijeme ustati Mihael, veliki i moćni zaštitnik tvog naroda. Bit će to vrijeme velikih nevolja kakve se ne pamte otkad postoji narod. Ali tvoj će narod biti spašen. Spasit će se svatko čije je ime zapisano u knjizi.[a] 2 Probudit će se mnogi koji su do tada spavali pod zemljom. Neki od njih ustat će u vječni život, dok će se drugi suočiti s vječnom sramotom i prezirom. 3 Mudri će ljudi zablistati nebeskim sjajem. Oni, koji druge budu poučavali da žive ispravno, zauvijek će sjajiti kao zvijezde.[b]
4 A ti, Daniele, čuvaj tajnu ove poruke. Zatvori ovu knjigu[c] dok ne dođe kraj svega. Mnogi će lutati u potrazi za znanjem i znanje će se uvećati.«
5 Tada sam ja, Daniel, ugledao još dva čovjeka. Jedan je bio na mojoj strani rijeke, a drugi na suprotnoj obali. 6 Jedan od njih upitao je čovjeka obučenog u lan, koji je lebdio nad vodom rijeke: »Koliko će potrajati dok se ne ispune ti čudesni događaji?«
7 Čovjek obučen u lan, koji je lebdio nad vodom rijeke, podigao je obje svoje ruke prema nebu. Čuo sam ga kako se zaklinje Bogom koji živi zauvijek. Rekao je: »Poslije jedne godine, a onda još dvije i pol godine[d], slomit će se snaga svetog naroda. Tada će se sve ostvariti.«
8 Čuo sam ga, ali ništa nisam razumio. Zato sam pitao: »Gospodaru, što će biti kad se sve ovo ostvari?«
9 Odgovorio mi je: »Nastavi sa svojim životom, Daniele. Ova će poruka ostati tajna sve dok ne dođe kraj. 10 Mnogi će biti pročišćeni. Bit će bijeli i čisti kao snijeg. Loši ljudi i dalje će činiti zlo, ali neće razumjeti što se događa. Razumjet će samo oni mudri.
11 Od vremena kad se više ne budu prinosili darovi i žrtve do vremena postavljanja grozote koja donosi uništenje[e], proći će tisuću dvjesto i devedeset dana. 12 Blago onome tko dočeka kraj razdoblja od tisuću tristo trideset i pet dana.
13 A ti, Daniele, živi mirno dalje do kraja svog života. Zatim ćeš, kad dođe kraj svega, ustati iz mrtvih i primiti svoje obećano nasljedstvo.«

New English Translation
12 “At that time Michael,
the great prince who watches over your people,[a]
will arise.[b]
There will be a time of distress
unlike any other from the nation’s beginning[c]
up to that time.
But at that time your own people,
all those whose names are[d] found written in the book,
will escape.
2 Many of those who sleep
in the dusty ground will awake—
some to everlasting life,
and others to shame and everlasting abhorrence.[e]
3 But the wise will shine
like the brightness of the heavenly expanse.
And those bringing many to righteousness
will be like the stars forever and ever.
4 “But you, Daniel, close up these words and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will dash about,[f] and knowledge will increase.”
5 I, Daniel, watched as two others stood there, one on each side of the river.[g] 6 One said to the man clothed in linen who was above the waters of the river, “When will the end of these wondrous events occur?” 7 Then I heard the man clothed in linen who was over the waters of the river as he raised both his right and left hands to the sky[h] and made an oath by the one who lives forever: “It is for a time, times, and half a time. Then, when the power of the one who shatters[i] the holy people has been exhausted, all these things will be finished.”
8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, “Sir,[j] what will happen after these things?” 9 He said, “Go, Daniel. For these matters are closed and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made clean, and refined, but the wicked will go on being wicked. None of the wicked will understand, though the wise will understand. 11 From the time that the daily sacrifice is removed and the abomination that causes desolation is set in place,[k] there are 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits and attains to the 1,335 days. 13 But you should go your way[l] until the end.[m] You will rest and then at the end of the days you will arise to receive[n] what you have been allotted.”[o]
