2 Samuel 8:3-8
New American Standard Bible
3 Then David [a]defeated (A)Hadadezer, the son of Rehob king of Zobah, as (B)he went to restore his [b]power at the Euphrates River. 4 And David captured from him [c]1,700 horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David (C)hamstrung almost all the chariot horses, but left enough of them for a hundred chariots. 5 When (D)the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David [d]killed twenty-two thousand men among the Arameans. 6 Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and (E)the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And (F)the Lord helped David wherever he went. 7 David took the shields of gold which were [e]carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from [f]Betah and (G)Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a very large amount of bronze.
