يسوع يعزي تلاميذه
14 «لا تَضْطَرِبْ قُلُوبُكُمْ. أَنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللهِ، فَآمِنُوا بِي أَيْضاً. 2 فِي بَيْتِ أَبِي مَنَازِلُ كَثِيرَةٌ، وَلَوْ لَمْ يَكُنِ الأَمْرُ كَذلِكَ لَقُلْتُ لَكُمْ! فَإِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ لأُعِدَّ لَكُمْ مَكَاناً. 3 وَبَعْدَمَا أَذْهَبُ وَأُعِدُّ لَكُمُ الْمَكَانَ أَعُودُ إِلَيْكُمْ وَآخُذُكُمْ إِلَيَّ، لِتَكُونُوا حَيْثُ أَكُونُ أَنَا. 4 أَنْتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ أَيْنَ أَنَا ذَاهِبٌ، وَتَعْرِفُونَ الطَّرِيقَ».
5 فَقَالَ تُومَا: «يَا سَيِّدُ، لَا نَعْرِفُ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ ذَاهِبٌ، فَكَيْفَ نَعْرِفُ الطَّرِيقَ؟»
يسوع هو الطريق إلى الآب
6 فَأَجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «أَنَا هُوَ الطَّرِيقُ وَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَيَاةُ. لَا يَأْتِي أَحَدٌ إِلَى الآبِ إِلّا بِي. 7 إِنْ كُنْتُمْ قَدْ عَرَفْتُمُونِي، فَقَدْ عَرَفْتُمْ أَبِي أَيْضاً، وَمُنْذُ الآنَ تَعْرِفُونَهُ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ». 8 فَقَالَ لَهُ فِيلِبُّسُ: «يَا سَيِّدُ، أَرِنَا الآبَ وَكَفَانَا!» 9 فَأَجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «مَضَتْ هذِهِ الْمُدَّةُ الطَّوِيلَةُ وَأَنَا مَعَكُمْ وَلَمْ تَعْرِفْنِي يَا فِيلِبُّسُ؟ الَّذِي رَآنِي رَأَى الآبَ، فَكَيْفَ تَقُولُ: أَرِنَا الآبَ؟ 10 أَلا تُؤْمِنُ أَنِّي أَنَا فِي الآبِ، وَأَنَّ الآبَ فِيَّ؟ الْكَلامُ الَّذِي أَقُولُهُ لَا أَقُولُهُ مِنْ عِنْدِي، وَإِنَّمَا الآبُ الْحَالُّ فِيَّ هُوَ يَعْمَلُ أَعْمَالَهُ هذِهِ. 11 صَدِّقُوا قَوْلِي: إِنِّيِ أَنَا فِي الآبِ وَإِنَّ الآبَ فِيَّ، وَإلَّا فَصَدِّقُونِي بِسَبَبِ تِلْكَ الأَعْمَالِ. 12 الْحَقَّ الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّ مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِي يَعْمَلُ الأَعْمَالَ الَّتِي أَنَا أَعْمَلُهَا، بَلْ يَعْمَلُ أَعْظَمَ مِنْهَا، لأَنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى أَبِي. 13 فَأَيُّ شَيْءٍ تَطْلُبُونَهُ بِاسْمِي أَفْعَلُهُ لَكُمْ، لِيَتَمَجَّدَ الآبُ فِي الاِبْنِ. 14 إِنْ طَلَبْتُمْ شَيْئاً بِاسْمِي، فَإِنِّي أَفْعَلُهُ.
الوعد بالروح القدس
15 إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَنِي فَاعْمَلُوا بِوَصَايَايَ. 16 وَسَوْفَ أَطْلُبُ مِنَ الآبِ أَنْ يُعْطِيَكُمْ مُعِيناً آخَرَ يَبْقَى مَعَكُمْ إِلَى الأَبَدِ، 17 وَهُوَ رُوحُ الْحَقِّ، الَّذِي لَا يَقْدِرُ الْعَالَمُ أَنْ يَتَقَبَّلَهُ لأَنَّهُ لَا يَرَاهُ وَلا يَعْرِفُهُ، وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَتَعْرِفُونَهُ لأَنَّهُ فِي وَسَطِكُمْ، وَسَيَكُونُ فِي دَاخِلِكُمْ. 18 لَنْ أَتْرُكَكُمْ يَتَامَى، بَلْ سَأَعُودُ إِلَيْكُمْ. 19 بَعْدَ قَلِيلٍ لَا يَرَانِي الْعَالَمُ. أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَسَوْفَ تَرَوْنَنِي. وَلأَنِّي أَنَا حَيٌّ، فَأَنْتُمْ أَيْضاً سَتَحْيَوْنَ. 20 فِي ذلِكَ الْيَوْمِ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي أَنَا فِي أَبِي، وَأَنْتُمْ فِيَّ، وَأَنَا فِيكُمْ. 21 مَنْ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ وَصَايَايَ، وَيَعْمَلُ بِها، فَذَاكَ يُحِبُّنِي. وَالَّذِي يُحِبُّنِي، يُحِبُّهُ أَبِي، وَأَنَا أُحِبُّهُ وأُعْلِنُ لَهُ ذَاتِي».
22 فَسَأَلَهُ يَهُوذَا، غَيْرُ الإِسْخَرْيُوطِيِّ: «يَا سَيِّدُ، مَاذَا جَرَى حَتَّى تُعْلِنَ لَنَا ذَاتَكَ وَلا تُعْلِنَهَا لِلْعَالَمِ؟» 23 أَجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «مَنْ يُحِبَّنِي يَعْمَلْ بِكَلِمَتِي، وَيُحِبَّهُ أَبِي، وَإِلَيْهِ نَأْتِي، وَعِنْدَهُ نَجْعَلُ لَنَا مَنْزِلاً. 24 وَالَّذِي لَا يُحِبُّنِي لَا يَعْمَلُ بِكَلامِي. وَهَذَا الْكَلامُ الَّذِي تَسْمَعُونَهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ عِنْدِي، بَلْ مِنَ الآبِ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَنِي، 25 وَقَدْ قُلْتُ لَكُمْ هذِهِ الأُمُورَ وَأَنَا مَازِلْتُ عِنْدَكُمْ. 26 وَأَمَّا الرُّوحُ الْقُدُسُ، الْمُعِينُ الَّذِي سَيُرْسِلُهُ الآبُ بِاسْمِي، فَإِنَّهُ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ، وَيُذَكِّرُكُمْ بِكُلِّ مَا قُلْتُهُ لَكُمْ.
27 سَلاماً أَتْرُكُ لَكُمْ. سَلامِي أُعْطِيكُمْ. لَيْسَ كَمَا يُعْطِي الْعَالَمُ أُعْطِيكُمْ أَنَا. فَلا تَضْطَرِبْ قُلُوبُكُمْ، وَلا تَرْتَعِبْ. 28 سَمِعْتُمْ أَنِّي قُلْتُ لَكُمْ: إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ عَنْكُمْ ثُمَّ أَعُودُ إِلَيْكُمْ. فَلَوْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَنِي، لَكُنْتُمْ تَبْتَهِجُونَ لأَنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى الآبِ، لأَنَّ الآبَ أَعْظَمُ مِنِّي. 29 هَا قَدْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ بِالأَمْرِ قَبْلَ حُدُوثِهِ، حَتَّى مَتَى حَدَثَ تُؤْمِنُونَ. 30 لَنْ أُكَلِّمَكُمْ كَثِيراً بَعْدُ، فَإِنَّ سَيِّدَ هَذَا الْعَالَمِ قَادِمٌ عَلَيَّ، وَلا شَيْءَ لَهُ فِيَّ. 31 إِلّا أَنَّ هَذَا سَيَحْدُثُ لِيَعْرِفَ الْعَالَمُ أَنِّي أُحِبُّ الآبَ، وَأَنِّي مِثْلَمَا أَوْصَانِي الآبُ هكَذَا أَفْعَلُ. قُومُوا! لِنَذْهَبْ مِنْ هُنَا!

14 «Il vostro cuore non sia turbato; credete in Dio e credete anche in me.
2 Nella casa del Padre mio ci sono molte dimore; se no, ve lo avrei detto; io vado a prepararvi un posto.
3 E quando sarò andato e vi avrò preparato il posto, ritornerò e vi accoglierò presso di me, affinché dove sono io siate anche voi.
4 Voi sapete dove io vado e conoscete anche la via».
5 Tommaso gli disse: «Signore, noi non sappiamo dove vai; come dunque possiamo conoscere la via?»
6 Gesú gli disse: «Io sono la via, la verità e la vita; nessuno viene al Padre se non per mezzo di me.
7 Se mi aveste conosciuto, avreste conosciuto anche mio Padre; fin da ora lo conoscete e l'avete visto».
8 Filippo gli disse: «Signore, mostraci il Padre e ci basta».
9 Gesú gli disse: «Da tanto tempo io sono con voi e tu non mi hai ancora conosciuto, Filippo? Chi ha visto me, ha visto il Padre; come mai dici: "Mostraci il Padre?"
10 Non credi che io sono nel Padre e che il Padre è in me? Le parole che io vi dico, non le dico da me stesso. Il Padre che dimora in me è colui che fa le opere.
11 Credetemi che io sono nel Padre e che il Padre è in me, se no, credetemi a motivo delle opere stesse.
12 In verità, in verità vi dico: chi crede in me farà anch'egli le opere che io faccio; anzi ne farà di piú grandi di queste, perché io vado al Padre.
13 E qualunque cosa chiederete nel nome mio la farò, affinché il Padre sia glorificato nel Figlio.
14 Se chiedete qualche cosa nel nome mio, io la farò».
15 «Se mi amate, osservate i miei comandamenti,
16 Ed io pregherò il Padre ed egli vi darà un altro Consolatore, che rimanga con voi per sempre,
17 lo Spirito della verità, che il mondo non può ricevere, perché non lo vede e non lo conosce; ma voi lo conoscete, perché dimora con voi e sarà in voi.
18 Non vi lascerò orfani; tornerò a voi.
19 Ancora un po' di tempo e il mondo non mi vedrà piú, ma voi mi vedrete; poiché io vivo, anche voi vivrete.
20 In quel giorno conoscerete che io sono nel Padre mio, e che voi siete in me ed Io in voi.
21 Chi ha i miei comandamenti e li osserva, è uno che mi ama, e chi mi ama sarà amato dal Padre mio; e io lo amerò e mi manifesterò a lui».
22 Giuda, non l'Iscariota, gli disse: «Signore, come mai ti manifesterai a noi e non al mondo?».
23 Gesú rispose e gli disse: «Se uno mi ama, osserverà la mia parola; e il Padre mio l'amerà, e noi verremo a lui e faremo dimora presso di lui.
24 Chi non mi ama, non osserva le mie parole; e la parola che udite non è mia, ma del Padre che mi ha mandato.
25 Vi ho detto queste cose, mentre ero con voi;
26 ma il Consolatore, lo Spirito Santo, che il Padre manderà nel mio nome, vi insegnerà ogni cosa e vi ricorderà tutto ciò che vi ho detto.
27 Io vi lascio la pace, vi do la mia pace; io ve la do, non come la dà il mondo; il vostro cuore non sia turbato e non si spaventi.
28 Avete udito che vi ho detto: "Io me ne vado e tornerò a voi". Se voi mi amaste, vi rallegrereste perché ho detto: "Io vado al Padre" poiché il Padre è piú grande di me.
29 E ora ve l'ho detto, prima che avvenga affinché, quando avverrà, crediate.
30 Non parlerò piú a lungo con voi, perché viene il principe di questo mondo e non ha nulla in me;
31 ma questo accade affinché il mondo conosca che io amo il Padre e che faccio come il Padre mi ha comandato. Alzatevi, andiamo via di qui».

Jesus Comforts His Disciples
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.(A) You believe(B) in God[a];(C) believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there(D) to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back(E) and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.(F) 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus the Way to the Father
5 Thomas(G) said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am(H) the way(I) and the truth(J) and the life.(K) No one comes to the Father except through me.(L) 7 If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well.(M) From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip(N) said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.(O) How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?(P) The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.(Q) Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.(R) 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes(S) in me will do the works I have been doing,(T) and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask(U) in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, keep my commands.(V) 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate(W) to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.(X) The world cannot accept him,(Y) because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans;(Z) I will come to you.(AA) 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.(AB) Because I live, you also will live.(AC) 20 On that day(AD) you will realize that I am in my Father,(AE) and you are in me, and I am in you.(AF) 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.(AG) The one who loves me will be loved by my Father,(AH) and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22 Then Judas(AI) (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”(AJ)
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.(AK) My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.(AL) 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.(AM)
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate,(AN) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,(AO) will teach you all things(AP) and will remind you of everything I have said to you.(AQ) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.(AR) I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled(AS) and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’(AT) If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father,(AU) for the Father is greater than I.(AV) 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.(AW) 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world(AX) is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.(AY)
“Come now; let us leave.
