13 ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ نَفْسِي وَاقِفاً عَلَى رَمْلِ الْبَحْرِ، وَإذَا وَحْشٌ خَارِجٌ مِنَ الْبَحْرِ، لَهُ سَبْعَةُ رُؤُوسٍ وَعَشَرَةُ قُرُونٍ، عَلَى كُلِّ قَرْنٍ مِنْهَا تَاجٌ، وَقَدْ كُتِبَ عَلَى كُلِّ رَأْسٍ اسْمُ تَجْدِيفٍ. 2 وَبَدَا هَذَا الْوَحْشُ مِثْلَ النَّمِرِ وَلَهُ قَوَائِمُ كَقَوَائِمِ دُبٍّ وَفَمٌ كَفَمِ أَسَدٍ! وَأَعْطَاهُ التِّنِّينُ قُدْرَتَهُ وَعَرْشَهُ وَسُلْطَةً عَظِيمَةً. 3 وَبَدَا وَاحِدٌ مِنْ رُؤُوسِهِ كَأَنَّهُ ذُبِحَ ذَبْحاً مُمِيتاً، وَلكِنَّ الْجُرْحَ الْمُمِيتَ شُفِيَ، فَتَعَجَّبَ سُكَّانُ الأَرْضِ لِذَلِكَ، وَتَبِعُوا الْوَحْشَ. 4 وَسَجَدَ النَّاسُ لِلتِّنِّينِ لأَنَّهُ وَهَبَ الْوَحْشَ سُلْطَتَهُ، وَعَبَدُوا الْوَحْشَ وَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ: «مَنْ مِثْلُ هَذَا الْوَحْشِ؟ وَمَنْ يَجْرُؤُ عَلَى مُحَارَبَتِهِ؟»
5 وَأَعْطَى التِّنِّينُ الْوَحْشَ فَماً يَنْطِقُ بِكَلامِ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالتَّجْدِيفِ، وَأَعْطَاهُ سُلْطَةَ الْعَمَلِ مُدَّةَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ شَهْراً. 6 فَأَخَذَ الْوَحْشُ يَشْتُمُ اسْمَ اللهِ، وَيَشْتُمُ بَيْتَهُ وَسُكَّانَ السَّمَاءِ. 7 وَأُعْطِيَ الْوَحْشُ قُدْرَةً عَلَى أَنْ يُحَارِبَ الْقِدِّيسِينَ وَيَهْزِمَهُمْ وَسُلْطَةً عَلَى كُلِّ قَبِيلَةٍ وَشَعْبٍ وَلُغَةٍ وَأُمَّةٍ. 8 فَيَسْجُدُ لِلْوَحْشِ جَمِيعُ سُكَّانِ الأَرْضِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ تُكْتَبْ أَسْمَاؤُهُمْ مُنْذُ تَأْسِيسِ الْعَالَمِ فِي سِجِلِّ الْحَيَاةِ لِلْحَمَلِ الَّذِي ذُبِحَ. 9 مَنْ لَهُ أُذُنٌ فَلْيَسْمَعْ: 10 مَنْ سَاقَ غَيْرَهُ إِلَى السَّبْيِ، فَإِلَى السَّبْيِ سَيُسَاقُ؛ وَمَنْ قَتَلَ بِالسَّيْفِ، فَبِالسَّيْفِ سَيُقْتَلُ! هُنَا يَظْهَرُ صَبْرُ الْقِدِّيسِينَ وَإِيمَانُهُمْ.

11 ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ وَحْشاً آخَرَ خَارِجاً مِنَ الأَرْضِ، لَهُ قَرْنَانِ صَغِيرَانِ كَقَرْنَيْ خَرُوفٍ، وَلَكِنَّ صَوْتَهُ كَصَوْتِ تِنِّينٍ، 12 وَقَدِ اسْتَمَدَّ سُلْطَتَهُ مِنَ الْوَحْشِ الأَوَّلِ الَّذِي خَرَجَ مِنَ الْبَحْرِ لِيَعْمَلَ بِها فِي حُضُورِهِ، فَجَعَلَ سُكَّانَ الأَرْضِ يَسْجُدُونَ لِلْوَحْشِ الأَوَّلِ الَّذِي شُفِيَ مِنْ جُرْحِهِ الْمُمِيتِ. 13 وَقَامَ الْوَحْشُ الثَّانِي بِآيَاتٍ خَارِقَةٍ، حَتَّى إِنَّهُ أَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ نَاراً عَلَى الأَرْضِ بِمَشْهَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ جَمِيعاً، 14 فَخَدَعَ سُكَّانَ الأَرْضِ بِالآيَاتِ الَّتِي كَانَ يَقُومُ بِها فِي حُضُورِ الْوَحْشِ الأَوَّلِ. وَأَمَرَ سُكَّانَ الأَرْضِ أَنْ يُقِيمُوا تِمْثَالاً لِلْوَحْشِ الأَوَّلِ الَّذِي كَانَ قَدْ جُرِحَ جُرْحاً مُمِيتاً وَلَكِنَّهُ عَاشَ! 15 وَأُعْطِيَ سُلْطَةً عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ الرُّوحَ فِي التِّمْثَالِ لِيَنْطِقَ، وَأَنْ يَمُدَّ يَدَهُ فَيَقْتُلُ كُلَّ مَنْ يَرْفُضُ السُّجُودَ لِتِمْثَالِ الْوَحْشِ، 16 وَأَنْ يَأْمُرَ الْجَمِيعَ، كِبَاراً وَصِغَاراً، أَغْنِيَاءَ وَفُقَرَاءَ، أَحْرَاراً وَعَبِيداً، أَنْ يَحْملُوا عَلامَةً عَلَى أَيْدِيهِمِ الْيُمْنَى أَوْ عَلَى جِبَاهِهِمْ، 17 فَلا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَبِيعَ أَوْ يَشْتَرِيَ إِلّا إِذَا كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ عَلامَةُ الْوَحْشِ، أَوِ الرَّقْمُ الَّذِي يَرْمِزُ لاسْمِهِ! 18 وَلابُدَّ هُنَا مِنَ الْفِطْنَةِ: فَعَلَى أَهْلِ الْمَعْرِفَةِ أَنْ يَحْسُبُوا عَدَدَ اسْمِ الْوَحْشِ. إِنَّهُ عَدَدٌ لإِنْسَانٍ، وَهُوَ الرَّقْمُ «سِتُّ مِئَةٍ وَسِتَّةٌ وَسِتُّونَ».

יג עתה ראיתי חיה מוזרה עולה מן הים ולה שבעה ראשים, עשר קרניים ועל כל קרן כתר. על כל אחד משבעת ראשיה היו כתובים שמות גידופים, כל שם מקלל ומבזה את אלוהים. 2 החיה נראתה כנמר, אך רגליה דמו לרגלי דוב ופיה דמה לפי אריה. התנין העניק לה את כוחו, את כסא מלכותו וסמכות רבה.
3 אחד מראשי החיה נראה פצוע פצעי מוות, אך הפצעים הגלידו. העולם כולו התפעל מהפלא הזה, ואנשים רבים הלכו אחרי החיה. 4 בני-האדם השתחוו לתנין מפני שהעניק לחיה כוח רב; הם השתחוו גם לחיה וקראו: "מי ידמה לחיה? מי מסוגל להילחם נגדה?"
5 החיה הורשתה לקלל ולחרף את שם ה', וניתנה לה סמכות לעשות כרצונה במשך ארבעים ושניים חודשים. 6 היא פתחה את פיה, חרפה וניאצה את אלוהים, את שמו, את מקדשו ואת כל השוכנים בשמים. 7 החיה הורשתה להילחם במאמינים ולנצחם. היא אף קיבלה שלטון על כל העמים, הארצות והשפות בעולם. 8 כל בני-האדם אשר שמם לא נכתב בספר-החיים של השה הטבוח, לפני בריאת העולם, השתחוו לחיה הרעה.
9 מי שמסוגל לשמוע שיקשיב היטב: 10 על מי שנגזר להיאסר, ייאסר; מי שמיועד למות בחרב ימות בחרב. אולם אל תפחדו, כי זוהי לכם הזדמנות להוכיח את אמונתכם ואת כוח-עמידתכם.
11 אחרי כן ראיתי חיה מוזרה אחרת עולה מן האדמה. היו לה שתי קרניים כקרני השה וקולה כקול התנין. 12 לחיה השנייה ניתנו כוח וסמכות מאת החיה הראשונה, והיא הביאה לכך שכל הארץ ותושביה ישתחוו לחיה שפצעי-המוות שלה הגלידו. 13 החיה השנייה חוללה ניסים ונפלאות; היא אפילו הורידה אש מן השמים לנגד עיני בני-האדם שצפו בה. 14 באמצעות הניסים והנפלאות שניתן לה לחולל בנוכחות החיה הראשונה, היא הוליכה שולל את אנשי הארץ. היא ציוותה עליהם לבנות פסל בדמות החיה הראשונה שהוכתה מכת מוות אך שבה לתחייה. 15 הותר לה להפיח רוח חיים בפסל, ואפילו להביאו לכדי דיבור. את כל אלה שסירבו להשתחוות לפסל בדמות החיה הראשונה, היא המיתה.

King James Version
13 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
