The Greatest Commandment—Love God Greatly
Love God Greatly is a ministry designed to help women follow the greatest commandment: to love God with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Based out of founder Angela Perritt’s home in Dallas, Love God Greatly reaches over 500,000 thousand women in over 100 countries with Bible studies in their own language. A team of volunteers sacrificially give of their time and resources to translate these valuable resources into their country’s languages so that every woman can read and understand the Word of God in her own language. These resources, devotions, and Bible studies are free and distributed to anyone who might need it.
In this tenth episode of the Bible Connection Podcast, Angela Perritt talks about her heart behind the ministry, how it came to be, and the passion that drives it. So often it is hard and scary to find a community of women to support you, but Love God Greatly fuels passionate communities all around the globe dedicated to helping women love God and know him better. The Bible study tools are a free resource for every Love God Greatly group, no matter where they meet, so there are no obstacles keeping women from God.
Through it all, Angela has learned to lean on God and trust in his vision. She admits that she never dreamed any of this would happen, but God did. Sometimes his plans are so much greater than ours. Angela and the incredible volunteers of Love God Greatly work tirelessly to get women into God’s Word in their language and in their communities.
Excerpt from This Podcast
2:14 — “Helping women love God greatly through one Bible study, one translation, one woman at a time. That really is our heart. We want to get women in God’s Word in their language, in their communities. Surrounded by God’s Word and reading it and falling in love with him through Scripture.”
3:22 — “Helping women develop as leaders so that in their countries, in their language, they can actually do more of a grass-roots effect of spreading the gospel.”
5:50 — “It’s just another way that God is moving powerfully through the world through his Word. Because his Word is alive and it’s active and it’s changing lives.”
9:12 — “God birthed it out of a need which I feel like a lot of women have; that need of just being lonely and you need to be in his Word and you need to have friends around, so I just gathered my local friends—we had already been meeting anyway for play-dates—and we just added Scripture into it. And from there, blog posts and translations. I really mean it when I say he grew it. I never dreamed of any of this, but he did.”
10:39 — “With Love God Greatly, we allow all of our Bible studies to be translated. And then we distribute them for free around the world. Because we’re all passionate about getting women in God’s Word in their language for free. We’re erasing as many barriers that we can that have been put up for women being in God’s Word, we try to get rid of all of those so that they are free to be in his Word in their language.”
12:56 — “All of our translators are volunteers. They all do this out of the goodness of their heart because they’re so passionate about reaching women in their countries and providing these resources and these Bible studies for them.
13:58 — “I think that getting it in all of these languages and actually connecting with people from different languages is not just about cutting and pasting like Google Translate. Some people like to think “You can get any material and translate it.” No, you really need the heart of these women behind it that are loving each other and praying for each other. I think that’s why it’s a God thing. It’s not a people-led thing, it’s a God-led thing.”
17:50 — “There’s another story of a woman in Columbia who basically prints off our studies for free and uses them at lunchtime with the women she works with. Because they can’t read, but she will read them and they will discuss them at lunchtime. So it really is truly hard to know the impact that God is doing through Love God Greatly.”
19:28 — “We want women reading God’s Word first. We want them listening to him first; interacting with him. And then we provide supplemental content to help them. We have our leadership groups where if there is a verse or something that women are stumped on and they’re, like, ‘I have no idea how to explain this to my women,’ they can go in there and see how other women are SOAPing [Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer] it and what they’re getting out of it. So we provide a lot of help for our women, we really want them reading God’s Word first.”
21:49 — “That’s our mission. We want to help women see God, know God, and fall in love with him.”
27:20 — “We have so many missionaries that are just doing amazing work, they just need help. So that’s what we’re trying to do. Cheer them on and come up underneath them and say: ‘I’ve got ya, I’m cheering for you, and here you go.’”
28:14 — “I feel like no matter where we live, we’re on mission, right? I feel like in the United States we’re on mission. I mean our country needs the Lord and we need our people being in God’s Word. But then I feel like because of my ministry, the blessing of it is that I can be a missionary from the comfort of my home, which is the beauty of the internet.
30:11 — “I’ve been amazed at what he’s doing. I’m amazed at how God goes before us and he gives us dreams that we didn’t even know we were dreaming about. It’s grown my faith. I’ve had to step out in faith so much during this process, but its really brought me closer to him also.”
Featured Scripture: Mark 12:30-31
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
