37 And again another Scripture says, “(A)They will look at Him whom they pierced.”

38 Now (B)after these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a (C)secret one for (D)fear of the [a]Jews, requested of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His body. 39 (E)Nicodemus, who had first come to Him by night, also came, (F)bringing a [b]mixture of (G)myrrh and aloes, about a [c](H)hundred litras weight. 40 So they took the body of Jesus and (I)bound it in (J)linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a (K)new tomb (L)in which no one had yet been laid. 42 Therefore because of the Jewish day of (M)preparation, since the tomb was (N)nearby, they laid Jesus there.

The Empty Tomb

20 (O)Now on the first day of the week (P)Mary Magdalene *came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and *saw (Q)the stone already removed from the tomb. So she *ran and *came to Simon Peter and to the other (R)disciple whom Jesus loved, and *said to them, “(S)They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him.”
