Hebrews 11:37-40

³⁷ They were ^(A)stoned, they were sawn in two, ^[a]they were tempted, they were ^(B)put to death with the sword; they went about ^(C)in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ^(D)tormented ³⁸ (people of whom the world was not worthy), ^(E)wandering in deserts, on mountains, and sheltering in caves and holes ^[b]in the ground.

³⁹ And all these, having ^(F)gained approval through their faith, ^(G)did not receive ^[c]what was promised, ⁴⁰ because God had ^[d]provided ^(H)something better for us, so that ^(I)apart from us they would not be made perfect.
