Zechariah 7:8-14
New King James Version
Disobedience Resulted in Captivity
8 Then the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying, 9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
(A)‘Execute true justice,
Show [a]mercy and compassion
Everyone to his brother.
10 (B)Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,
The alien or the poor.
(C)Let none of you plan evil in his heart
Against his brother.’
11 “But they refused to heed, (D)shrugged[b] their shoulders, and (E)stopped[c] their ears so that they could not hear. 12 Yes, they made their (F)hearts like flint, (G)refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. (H)Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts. 13 Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so (I)they called out and I would not listen,” says the Lord of hosts. 14 “But (J)I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”

Zechariah 7:8-14
New International Version
8 And the word of the Lord came again to Zechariah: 9 “This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice;(A) show mercy and compassion to one another.(B) 10 Do not oppress the widow(C) or the fatherless, the foreigner(D) or the poor.(E) Do not plot evil against each other.’(F)
11 “But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly(G) they turned their backs(H) and covered their ears.(I) 12 They made their hearts as hard as flint(J) and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets.(K) So the Lord Almighty was very angry.(L)
13 “‘When I called, they did not listen;(M) so when they called, I would not listen,’(N) says the Lord Almighty.(O) 14 ‘I scattered(P) them with a whirlwind(Q) among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land they left behind them was so desolate that no one traveled through it.(R) This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.(S)’”
