Zechariah 12:8-10

New King James Version

⁸In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the Lord before them. ⁹It shall be in that day that I will seek to ^(A)destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Mourning for the Pierced One

¹⁰^(B)“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will ^(C)look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him ^(D)as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

⁸On that day the Lord will shield^(A) those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest^(B) among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God,^(C) like the angel of the Lord going before^(D) them. ⁹On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations^(E) that attack Jerusalem.^(F)

Mourning for the One They Pierced

¹⁰“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit^[a]^(G) of grace and supplication.^(H) They will look on^[b] me, the one they have pierced,^(I) and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child,^(J) and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.^(K)
