¹⁶^(A)They profess to know God, but they ^(B)deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, ^(C)unfit for any good work.

New International Version

¹⁶They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.^(A) They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.^(B)

¹⁶that no one is ^(A)sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.

¹⁶See that no one is sexually immoral,^(A) or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.^(B)
