9 I compare you, (A)my love,
to (B)a mare among Pharaoh's chariots.
10 (C)Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments,
your neck with strings of jewels.
Others
11 We will make for you[a] ornaments of gold,
studded with silver.
She
12 While (D)the king was on his couch,
my (E)nard gave forth its fragrance.
13 My beloved is to me a sachet of (F)myrrh
that lies between my breasts.
14 My beloved is to me a cluster of (G)henna blossoms
in the vineyards of (H)Engedi.
He
She
16 Behold, you are beautiful, (M)my beloved, truly (N)delightful.
Our couch is green;
17 the beams of our house are (O)cedar;
our rafters are (P)pine.
He
2 As a lily among brambles,
so is (R)my love among the young women.
She
3 As an apple tree among the trees of the forest,
so is my (S)beloved among the young men.
With great delight I sat (T)in his shadow,
and his (U)fruit was sweet to my taste.
4 He (V)brought me to the banqueting house,[c]
and his (W)banner over me was love.
5 Sustain me with (X)raisins;
refresh me with apples,
(Y)for I am sick with love.
6 His (Z)left hand is under my head,
and his right hand (AA)embraces me!
7 I (AB)adjure you,[d] O (AC)daughters of Jerusalem,
by (AD)the gazelles or the does of the field,
that you not stir up or awaken love
until it pleases.
