19 (A)Never take your own revenge, beloved, but [a]leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “(B)Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 “(C)But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

19 Do not take revenge,(A) my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a](B) says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
    if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[b](C)
