Blessings of Those Who Fear the Lord

A Song of Ascents.

128 Blessed (A)is every one who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways.

(B)When you eat the [a]labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be (C)well with you.
Your wife shall be (D)like a fruitful vine
In the very heart of your house,
Your (E)children (F)like olive plants
All around your table.
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the Lord.

(G)The Lord bless you out of Zion,
And may you see the good of Jerusalem
All the days of your life.
Yes, may you (H)see your children’s children.

(I)Peace be upon Israel!

Song of Victory over Zion’s Enemies

A Song of Ascents.

129 “Many a time they have (J)afflicted[b] me from (K)my youth,”
(L)Let Israel now say—
“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth;
Yet they have not prevailed against me.
The plowers plowed on my back;
They made their furrows long.”
The Lord is righteous;
He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.

Let all those who hate Zion
Be put to shame and turned back.
Let them be as the (M)grass on the housetops,
Which withers before it grows up,
With which the reaper does not fill his hand,
Nor he who binds sheaves, his [c]arms.
Neither let those who pass by them say,
(N)“The blessing of the Lord be upon you;
We bless you in the name of the Lord!”

Waiting for the Redemption of the Lord

A Song of Ascents.

130 Out (O)of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.

(P)If You, Lord, should [d]mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could (Q)stand?
But there is (R)forgiveness with You,
That (S)You may be feared.

(T)I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And (U)in His word I do hope.
(V)My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

(W)O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For (X)with the Lord there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And (Y)He shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Simple Trust in the Lord

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

131 Lord, my heart is not [e]haughty,
Nor my eyes [f]lofty.
(Z)Neither do I [g]concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too [h]profound for me.

Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
(AA)Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.

(AB)O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.

The Eternal Dwelling of God in Zion

A Song of Ascents.

132 Lord, remember David
And all his afflictions;
How he swore to the Lord,
(AC)And vowed to (AD)the Mighty One of Jacob:
“Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house,
Or go up to the comfort of my bed;
I will (AE)not give sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,
Until I (AF)find a place for the Lord,
A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Behold, we heard of it (AG)in Ephrathah;
(AH)We found it (AI)in the fields of [i]the woods.
Let us go into His tabernacle;
(AJ)Let us worship at His footstool.
(AK)Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place,
You and (AL)the ark of Your strength.
Let Your priests (AM)be clothed with righteousness,
And let Your saints shout for joy.

10 For Your servant David’s sake,
Do not turn away the face of Your [j]Anointed.

11 (AN)The Lord has sworn in truth to David;
He will not turn from it:
“I will set upon your throne (AO)the [k]fruit of your body.
12 If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I shall teach them,
Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”

13 (AP)For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His [l]dwelling place:
14 “This(AQ) is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
15 (AR)I will abundantly bless her [m]provision;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 (AS)I will also clothe her priests with salvation,
(AT)And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17 (AU)There I will make the [n]horn of David grow;
(AV)I will prepare a lamp for My [o]Anointed.
18 His enemies I will (AW)clothe with shame,
But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”

Blessed Unity of the People of God

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For (AX)brethren to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of (AY)Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For (AZ)there the Lord commanded the blessing—
Life forevermore.

Praising the Lord in His House at Night

A Song of Ascents.

134 Behold, bless the Lord,
All you servants of the Lord,
Who by night stand in the house of the Lord!
(BA)Lift up your hands in the sanctuary,
And bless the Lord.

The Lord who made heaven and earth
Bless you from Zion!
