9 Do not be (A)like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding,
Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check,
Otherwise they will not come near to you.
10 The (B)sorrows of the wicked are many,
But (C)the one who trusts in the Lord, goodness will surround him.
11 Be (D)glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are (E)upright in heart.

but must be controlled by bit and bridle(A)
or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,(B)
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts(C) in him.
11 Rejoice in the Lord(D) and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
