² They ^(A)speak ^[a]lies to one another;
They speak with ^[b](B)flattering lips and a double heart.

²⁴ One who ^(A)hates disguises it with his lips,
But he harbors ^(B)deceit in his ^[a]heart.
²⁵ When ^[b]he ^(C)speaks graciously, do not believe him,
Because there are seven abominations in his heart.

⁸ Their ^(A)tongue is a deadly arrow;
It speaks deceit;
With his mouth one ^(B)speaks peace to his neighbor,
But inwardly he ^(C)sets an ambush for him.

⁵ Do not ^(A)trust in a neighbor;
Do not have confidence in a close friend.
Guard ^[a]your lips
From her who lies ^[b]in your arms.
⁶ For ^(B)son disavows father,
Daughter rises up against her mother,
Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
^(C)A person’s enemies are the people of his own household.
