Divorce Practices Censured
31 “It was also said, Whoever divorces(A) his wife must give her a written notice of divorce.(B)[a] 32 But I tell you, everyone who divorces his wife, except in a case of sexual immorality,[b] causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.(C)
Tell the Truth
33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to our ancestors,[c] You must not break your oath, but you must keep your oaths to the Lord.(D)[d]

31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’[a](A) 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.(B)

33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath,(C) but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’(D)
