Pharisees and Sadducees Test Jesus

16 ^(A)The ^(B)Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and putting Jesus to the test, they ^(C)asked Him to show them a ^[a]sign from heaven.

^11 (A)And the Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, ^(B)demanding from Him a ^[a]sign from heaven, ^[b]to test Him. ^12 (C)Sighing deeply in His spirit, He *said, “Why does this generation demand a ^[c]sign? Truly I say to you, ^[d](D)no ^[e]sign will be given to this generation!”

¹⁶ Others, ^[a]to test Him, ^(A)were demanding of Him a ^[b]sign from heaven.

^18 (A)The Jews then said to Him, “^(B)What sign do You show us ^[a]as your authority for doing these things?”

³⁰ So they said to Him, “^(A)What then are You doing as a ^(B)sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work are You performing?

²² For indeed ^(A)Jews ask for ^[a]signs and Greeks search for wisdom;
