For (A)nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be (B)famines, [a]pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

(C)“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then (D)many false prophets will rise up and (E)deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow (F)cold. 13 (G)But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this (H)gospel of the kingdom (I)will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

The Great Tribulation(J)

15 (K)“Therefore when you see the (L)‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (M)(whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But (N)woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For (O)then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; (P)but for the [b]elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted(C) and put to death,(D) and you will be hated by all nations because of me.(E) 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets(F) will appear and deceive many people.(G) 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.(H) 14 And this gospel of the kingdom(I) will be preached in the whole world(J) as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15 “So when you see standing in the holy place(K) ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a](L) spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop(M) go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!(N) 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.(O)

22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect(P) those days will be shortened.
