14 And the Lord [a]looked at him and said, “(A)Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?” 15 (B)But he said to Him, “O Lord, [b]how am I to save Israel? Behold, my family is the least in (C)Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my father’s house.” 16 (D)Yet the Lord said to him, “I will certainly be with you, and you will [c]defeat Midian as one man.”

New International Version
14 The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have(A) and save(B) Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan(C) is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.(D)”
16 The Lord answered, “I will be with you(E), and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
