38 ¶ So Joshua returned, and all Israel with him to Debir, and fought against it.

39 And when he had taken it, and the king thereof, and all the city thereof, they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein, he let none remain: as he did to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof, as he had also done to Libnah, and to the king thereof.

40 ¶ So Joshua smote all the hill countries, and the South countries, and the valleys, and the [a]hillsides, and all their kings, and let none remain, but utterly destroyed every soul, as the Lord God of Israel had commanded.

38 Then Joshua and all Israel with him turned around and attacked Debir.(A) 39 They took the city, its king and its villages, and put them to the sword. Everyone in it they totally destroyed. They left no survivors. They did to Debir and its king as they had done to Libnah and its king and to Hebron.(B)

40 So Joshua subdued the whole region, including the hill country, the Negev,(C) the western foothills and the mountain slopes,(D) together with all their kings.(E) He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded.(F)
