29 The bride always belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who helps the bridegroom just waits and listens. He is happy just to hear the bridegroom talk. That’s how I feel now. I am so happy that he is here. 30 He must become more and more important, and I must become less important.

31 “The one who comes from above is greater than all others. The one who is from the earth belongs to the earth. He talks about things that are on the earth. But the one who comes from heaven is greater than all others.

29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom.(A) The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.(B) 30 He must become greater; I must become less.”[a]
31 The one who comes from above(C) is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth.(D) The one who comes from heaven is above all.
