John 19:7-10
New American Standard Bible
7 The Jews answered him, “(A)We have a law, and by that law He ought to die, because He (B)made Himself out to be the Son of God!”
8 Therefore when Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid; 9 and he (C)entered the [a]Praetorium again and *said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But (D)Jesus gave him no answer. 10 So Pilate *said to Him, “Are you not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?”

8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, 9 and he went back inside the palace.(C) “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.(D) 10 “Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”
