26 So when Jesus saw His mother, and (A)the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He *said to His mother, (B)Woman, behold, your son!” 27 Then He *said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her into (C)his own household.

28 After this, Jesus, (D)knowing that all things had already been accomplished, (E)in order that the Scripture would be fulfilled, *said, (F)I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so (G)they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. 30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, (H)It is finished!” And He bowed His head and (I)gave up His spirit.

The Death of Jesus(C)

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished,(D) and so that Scripture would be fulfilled,(E) Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar(F) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”(G) With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
