¹⁴ Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise ^(A)partook of the same things, that ^(B)through death he might ^(C)destroy ^(D)the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

¹⁶ For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he ^(A)helps the offspring of Abraham. ¹⁷ Therefore he had ^(B)to be made like his brothers in every respect, ^(C)so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest ^(D)in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest ^(A)who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been ^(B)tempted as we are, ^(C)yet without sin.
