⁸ And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool^[a] of the day, and the man and his wife ^(A)hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

²⁴ He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the ^(A)cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(A)everyone who practices sin is a slave^[a] to sin.

⁴² Jesus said to them, ^(A)“If God were your Father, you would love me, for ^(B)I came from God and ^(C)I am here. ^(D)I came not of my own accord, but ^(E)he sent me.

^44 (A)You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. ^(B)He was a murderer from the beginning, and ^(C)does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. ^(D)When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
