¹⁴ Laban said to him, “Yes, you are my own flesh and blood.”^[a](A)

After Jacob had stayed with him a month,

¹² You are my brothers, my flesh and blood.^[a](A) So why should you be the last to restore the king?’ ¹³ And tell Amasa,^(B) ‘Aren’t you my flesh and blood?^[b] May God punish me and do so severely if you don’t become commander of my army from now on instead of Joab!’”

³ For I could wish^(A) that I myself were cursed^(B) and cut off^[a] from Christ for the benefit of my brothers and sisters, my own flesh and blood.
