Genesis 2:22-24

New American Standard Bible

²²And the Lord God ^[a]fashioned into a woman ^(A)the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. ²³Then the man said,

“^(B)At last this is bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
^[b]She shall be called ^[c]‘woman,’
Because ^[d]she was taken out of ^[e]man.”

²⁴^(C)For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

²²Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib^[a]^(A) he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

²³The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;^(B)
she shall be called^(C) ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.^(D)”

²⁴That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united^(E) to his wife, and they become one flesh.^(F)
