Galatians 3:19-4:7
New American Standard Bible
19 (A)Why the Law then? It was added on account of the [a]violations, having been (B)ordered through angels (C)at the hand of a [b]mediator, until (D)the Seed would come to whom the promise had been made. 20 Now (E)a mediator is not [c]for one party only; but God is only one. 21 Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? [d](F)Far from it! For (G)if a law had been given that was able to impart life, then righteousness [e]would indeed have been [f]based on law. 22 But the Scripture has (H)confined [g]everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 But before faith came, [h]we were kept in custody under the Law, (I)being confined for the faith that was destined to be revealed. 24 Therefore the Law has become our [i](J)guardian to lead us to Christ, so that (K)we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a [j](L)guardian. 26 For you are all (M)sons and daughters of God through faith in (N)Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were (O)baptized into Christ have (P)clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 (Q)There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is [k]neither male nor female; for (R)you are all one in (S)Christ Jesus. 29 And if (T)you [l]belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s [m]descendants, heirs according to (U)promise.
Sonship in Christ
4 Now I say, as long as the heir is a [n]child, he does not differ at all from a slave, although he is [o]owner of everything, 2 but he is under guardians and [p]managers until the [q]date set by the father. 3 So we too, when we were children, were held (V)in bondage under the [r](W)elementary principles of the world. 4 But when (X)the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son, (Y)born of a woman, born (Z)under [s]the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under [t]the Law, that we might receive the adoption as (AA)sons and daughters. 6 Because you are sons, (AB)God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “(AC)Abba! [u]Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and (AD)if a son, then an heir [v]through God.
