²⁸ And God blessed them. And God said to them, ^(B)“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

¹⁰ A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers.

¹⁷ but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ^(A)you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat^[a] of it you ^(B)shall surely die.”

²⁶ And ^(A)he made from one man every nation of mankind to live ^(B)on all the face of the earth, ^(C)having determined allotted periods and ^(D)the boundaries of their dwelling place,

Death in Adam, Life in Christ

¹² Therefore, just as ^(A)sin came into the world through one man, and ^(B)death through sin, and ^(C)so death spread to all men^[a] because ^(D)all sinned—

¹⁵ But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for ^(A)many. ¹⁶ And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For ^(B)the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought ^(C)justification. ¹⁷ For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness ^(D)reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ Therefore, as one trespass^[a] led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness^[b] leads to justification and life for ^(E)all men. ¹⁹ For as by the one man's ^(F)disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's ^(G)obedience the many will be made righteous.

²¹ For as ^(A)by a man came death, ^(B)by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. ²² For ^(C)as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

⁴⁵ Thus it is written, ^(A)“The first man Adam became a living being”;^{[a] (B)}the last Adam became a ^(C)life-giving spirit.

⁴⁹ Just ^(A)as we have borne the image of the man of dust, ^(B)we shall^[a] also bear the image of the man of heaven.
