²¹ But I had concern ^(A)for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations to which they came.

I Will Put My Spirit Within You

²² “Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: ^(B)It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, ^(C)which you have profaned among the nations to which you came. ^23 (D)And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. ^(E)And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.

⁵⁸ “If you are not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, ^(A)the Lord your God, ⁵⁹ then the Lord will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting.

² And he said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying ^(A)scroll. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width ten cubits.”^{[a] 3} Then he said to me, “This is ^(B)the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who ^(C)steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who ^(D)swears falsely^[b] shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side. ⁴ I will send it out, declares the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of ^(E)him who swears falsely by my name. And ^(F)it shall remain in his house and ^(G)consume it, both timber and stones.”
