Ezekiel's Call

2 And he said to me, ^(A)“Son of man,^{[a] (B)}stand on your feet, and I will speak with you.”

3 And he said to me, ^(A)“Son of man, eat whatever you find here. ^(B)Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.”

³ And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” ^(A)Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth ^(B)as sweet as honey.

⁴ And he said to me, ^(C)“Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with my words to them.

^17 (A)“Son of man, ^(B)I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall ^(C)give them warning from me.

²⁵ And you, O son of man, behold, ^(A)cords will be placed upon you, and you shall be bound with them, so that you cannot go out among the people.

The Siege of Jerusalem Symbolized

4 “And you, ^(A)son of man, ^(B)take a brick and lay it before you, and engrave on it a city, even Jerusalem.

¹⁶ Moreover, he said to me, ^(A)“Son of man, behold, ^(B)I will break the supply^[a] of bread in Jerusalem. They shall eat bread ^(C)by weight and with anxiety, and they shall drink water ^(D)by measure and in dismay.

Jerusalem Will Be Destroyed

5 “And you, ^(A)O son of man, take a ^(B)sharp sword. Use it as ^(C)a barber's razor and ^(D)pass it over your head and your beard. Then take balances for weighing and divide the hair.
