Exodus 22:2-3
English Standard Version
2 [a] If a thief is found (A)breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, 3 but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him. He[b] shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then (B)he shall be sold for his theft.

2 “If a thief is caught breaking in(A) at night and is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed;(B) 3 but if it happens after sunrise, the defender is guilty of bloodshed.
“Anyone who steals must certainly make restitution,(C) but if they have nothing, they must be sold(D) to pay for their theft.
