²⁸ And ^(A)I will send hornets^[a] before you, which shall drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites from before you. ^29 (B)I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild beasts multiply against you. ³⁰ Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land.

⁵² then ^(A)you shall drive out ^(B)all the inhabitants of the land from before you and destroy all their ^(C)figured stones and destroy all their metal images and demolish all their high places. ⁵³ And you shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it.
