²⁵ Then he ^(A)cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him ^(B)a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet.

There He ^(C)made for them a statute and regulation, and there He ^(D)tested them.

²⁰ However, Moses said to the people, “^(A)Do not be afraid; for God has come in order ^(B)to test you, and in order that ^(C)the fear of Him may ^[a]remain with you, so that you will not sin.”

³¹ Even in the matter of ^(A)the messengers of the rulers of Babylon, who were sent to him to inquire about ^(B)the wonder that had happened in the land; God left him alone only ^(C)to test him, so that He might know everything that was in his heart.
