Ephesians 5:3-14
English Standard Version
3 But (A)sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness (B)must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. 4 Let there be (C)no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, (D)which are out of place, but instead (E)let there be thanksgiving. 5 For you may be sure of this, that (F)everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous ((G)that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 (H)Let no one (I)deceive you with empty words, for because of these things (J)the wrath of God comes upon (K)the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore (L)do not become partners with them; 8 for (M)at one time you were (N)darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. 8 For you were once(K) darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light(L) 9 (for the fruit(M) of the light consists in all goodness,(N) righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.(O) 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,(P) but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light(Q) becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:
