Ecclesiastes 1:16-18
English Standard Version
16 I said in my heart, “I have acquired great (A)wisdom, surpassing all who were over Jerusalem before me, and my heart has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.” 17 And I (B)applied my heart to know wisdom and to know (C)madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but (D)a striving after wind.
18 For (E)in much wisdom is much vexation,
and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
Ecclesiastes 1:16-18
New International Version
16 I said to myself, “Look, I have increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me;(A) I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge.” 17 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom,(B) and also of madness and folly,(C) but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.
