22 For if you are (A)careful to keep all of this commandment which I am commanding you to do, (B)to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and (C)cling to Him, 23 then the Lord will [a](D)dispossess all these nations from you, and you will [b](E)dispossess nations greater and mightier than you. 24 (F)Every place on which the sole of your foot steps shall be yours; (G)your border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the river, the river Euphrates, as far as [c]the western sea. 25 (H)No one will be able to stand against you; the Lord your God will [d]instill the dread of you and the fear of you in all the land on which you set foot, just as He has spoken to you.

26 (I)See, I am placing before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the (J)blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today; 28 and the (K)curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, [e]by following other gods which you have not known.

29 “And it shall come about, when the Lord your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, (L)that you shall place the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal. 30 Are they not across the Jordan, west of the road toward the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite (M)Gilgal, beside (N)the [f]oaks of Moreh? 31 For you are about to cross the Jordan to go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and (O)you shall possess it and live in it, 32 and you shall be careful to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am placing before you today.

Laws of the Sanctuary

12 “These are the statutes and the judgments which you shall carefully [g]follow in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess [h](P)as long as you live on the [i]earth. You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations whom you are going to dispossess serve their gods, on the (Q)high mountains, on the hills, and under every leafy tree. And (R)you shall tear down their altars and smash their memorial stones to pieces, and burn their [j]Asherim in the fire, and cut to pieces the carved images of their gods; and you shall (S)eliminate their name from that place. You shall not act this way toward the Lord your God. (T)But you shall seek the Lord at the place which the Lord your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwelling, and you shall come there. You shall bring there your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, (U)your tithes, the [k]contribution of your hand, your vowed offerings, your [l]voluntary offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock. There you and your households shall eat before the Lord your God, and (V)rejoice in all [m]your undertakings in which the Lord your God has blessed you.

“You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, (W)everyone doing whatever is right in his own eyes; for you have not as yet come to (X)the resting place and the (Y)inheritance which the Lord your God is giving you. 10 When you cross the Jordan and live in the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and (Z)He gives you rest from all your enemies around you so that you live in security,
