Deuteronomy 7:5-7

5 But this is what you must do to them: you shall break down their altars, and their stone pillars you shall smash, and their Asherah poles you shall hew down, and you shall burn their idols with fire. 6 For you are a holy people for Yahweh your God; Yahweh your God has chosen you to be for him a people, a treasured possession from among all the peoples that are on the face[a] of the earth.
7 “Yahweh loved you and chose you not because of your great number[b] exceeding all other peoples, for you are fewer than all of the peoples,

New International Version
5 This is what you are to do to them: Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, cut down their Asherah poles[a](A) and burn their idols in the fire.(B) 6 For you are a people holy(C) to the Lord your God.(D) The Lord your God has chosen(E) you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.(F)
7 The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous(G) than other peoples, for you were the fewest(H) of all peoples.(I)
