The Day of Pentecost

When (D)the day of Pentecost [c]had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a noise like a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled (E)the whole house where they were sitting. And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, [d]distributing themselves, and a tongue [e]rested on each one of them. And they were all (F)filled with the Holy Spirit and began to (G)speak with different [f]tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.

Now there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, (H)devout men from every nation under heaven.

The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

When the day of Pentecost(B) came, they were all together(C) in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.(D) They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit(E) and began to speak in other tongues[a](F) as the Spirit enabled them.

Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing(G) Jews from every nation under heaven.
