¹⁷ Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking down the people, and said, “Behold, ^(A)it is I who have sinned, and it is I who have done wrong; but ^(B)these sheep, what have they done? Please let Your hand be against me and against my father’s house!”

¹⁷ And David said to God, “Is it not I who ^[a]commanded to count the people? Indeed, I am the one who has sinned and acted very wickedly, ^(A)but these sheep, what have they done? Lord, my God, just let Your hand be against me and my father’s household, and not against Your people as a plague.”
