²² Segub was the father of Jair, who owned twenty-three towns in the land of Gilead, ²³ but Geshur and Aram took Havvoth-jair from them, as well as Kenath and its villages, sixty towns.

All these were descendants of Machir, Gilead’s father. ²⁴ After Hezron’s death, Caleb went to Ephrath.^[a] Abijah, Hezron’s wife, bore him Ashhur, Tekoa’s father.
