4 But you, brothers and sisters,[a] are not in the darkness for the day to overtake you like a thief would. 5 For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness. 6 So then we must not sleep as the rest, but must stay alert and sober.

4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness(A) so that this day should surprise you like a thief.(B) 5 You are all children of the light(C) and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep,(D) but let us be awake(E) and sober.(F)
