1 Peter 3:14-17
New American Standard Bible
14 But even if you should (A)suffer for the sake of righteousness, (B)you [a]are blessed. (C)And do not fear their [b]intimidation, and do not be in dread, 15 but [c]sanctify (D)Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready (E)to make a [d]defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the (F)hope that is in you, but (G)with gentleness and (H)respect; 16 [e]and keep a (I)good conscience so that in the thing in which (J)you are slandered, those who disparage your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. 17 For (K)it is better, (L)if [f]God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.

14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed.(A) “Do not fear their threats[a]; do not be frightened.”[b](B) 15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer(C) to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope(D) that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience,(E) so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.(F) 17 For it is better, if it is God’s will,(G) to suffer for doing good(H) than for doing evil.

King James Version
14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
