The people, however, were still sacrificing at the high places,(A) because a temple had not yet been built for the Name(B) of the Lord. Solomon showed his love(C) for the Lord by walking(D) according to the instructions(E) given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.(F)

The king went to Gibeon(G) to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. At Gibeon the Lord appeared(H) to Solomon during the night in a dream,(I) and God said, “Ask(J) for whatever you want me to give you.”

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the Lord, until those days.

And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
