Sin and the Child of God

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and (A)sin is lawlessness. And you know (B)that He was manifested (C)to take away our sins, and (D)in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. (E)He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, (F)that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been (G)born of God does not sin, for (H)His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.(A) But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins.(B) And in him is no sin.(C) No one who lives in him keeps on sinning.(D) No one who continues to sin has either seen him(E) or known him.(F)

Dear children,(G) do not let anyone lead you astray.(H) The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.(I) The one who does what is sinful is of the devil,(J) because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God(K) appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.(L) No one who is born of God(M) will continue to sin,(N) because God’s seed(O) remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
