¹⁴ So also ^(A)the Lord directed those who proclaim the ^(B)gospel to ^(C)get their living from the gospel.

⁶ nor did we ^(A)seek honor from people, either from you or from others, though ^[a]we could have ^[b]asserted our authority as ^(B)apostles of Christ.

⁹ For you recall, brothers and sisters, our ^(A)labor and hardship: it was by ^(B)working night and day so as not to be a ^(C)burden to any of you, that we proclaimed to you the ^(D)gospel of God.

⁸ nor did we ^(A)eat ^[a]anyone’s bread ^[b]without paying for it, but with ^(B)labor and hardship we kept ^(C)working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you; ⁹ not because we do not have ^(D)the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves ^(E)as a role model for you, so that you would ^[c]follow our example. ¹⁰ For even ^(F)when we were with you, we used to give you this order: ^(G)if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. ¹¹ For we hear that some among you are ^(H)leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like ^(I)busybodies. ¹² Now we command and ^(J)exhort such persons in the Lord Jesus Christ to ^(K)work ^[d]peacefully and eat their own bread. ¹³ But as for you, ^(L)brothers and sisters, ^(M)do not grow weary of doing good.

¹⁴ If anyone does not obey our ^[e]instruction ^[f](N)in this letter, take special note of that person so as ^(O)not to associate with him, so that he will be ^(P)put to shame. ¹⁵ And yet ^(Q)do not regard that person as an enemy, but ^[g](R)admonish that one as a ^(S)brother or sister.

¹⁶ Now ^(T)may the Lord of peace ^(U)Himself continually grant you peace in every ^[h]circumstance. ^(V)The Lord be with you all!
