There are varieties of effects, but the same (A)God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit (B)for the common good. For to one is given the word of (C)wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of (D)knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another (E)faith [a]by the same Spirit, and to another (F)gifts of [b]healing [c]by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the [d]effecting of [e](G)miracles, and to another (H)prophecy, and to another the [f](I)distinguishing of spirits, to another various (J)kinds of tongues, and to another the (K)interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, (L)distributing to each one individually just as He [g]wills.

12 For just (M)as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, (N)so also is Christ. 13 For [h](O)by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether (P)Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to (Q)drink of one Spirit.

14 For (R)the body is not one part, but many. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [i]any less a part of the body.

There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone(A) it is the same God(B) at work.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.(C) To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom,(D) to another a message of knowledge(E) by means of the same Spirit, to another faith(F) by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing(G) by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers,(H) to another prophecy,(I) to another distinguishing between spirits,(J) to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a](K) and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,(L) and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Unity and Diversity in the Body

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body,(M) so it is with Christ.(N) 13 For we were all baptized(O) by[c] one Spirit(P) so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free(Q)—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.(R) 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.(S)

15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.
