¹⁹ Do you not know that your bodies are temples^(A) of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;^{(B) 20} you were bought at a price.^(C) Therefore honor God with your bodies.^(D)

The Need for Self-Discipline

²⁴ Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?^(A) Run^(B) in such a way as to get the prize. ²⁵ Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown^(C) that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.^{(D) 26} Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly;^(E) I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.^{(F) 27} No, I strike a blow to my body^(G) and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.^(H)

¹³ And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.^(A) But the greatest of these is love.^(B)

The Resurrection of Christ

15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel^(A) I preached to you,^(B) which you received and on which you have taken your stand. ² By this gospel you are saved,^(C) if you hold firmly^(D) to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

²⁷ For he “has put everything under his feet.”^[a](A) Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.^{(B) 28} When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him,^(C) so that God may be all in all.^(D)
